Ghanteswar Siva Temple is located in Bhubaneswar, Orissa, India. It comes into the Kapileswara district. It is one of the famous and oldest temples in India. The devotees of Shiv visit this divine temple. They come here and worship the lord Shiva with devotion. The pilgrims chants the Maha Mrutyunjaya Mantra while pouring water and cow milk on the linga.

The Shiva Linga is rounded in shape and the laterite is used in making of this holy and pure linga of Shiva. Shiva is known as the God of Destruction. People also offer Bili Patras on the Shiva linga.

History

Ghanteswar Siva Temple is ancient temple in Orissa. Its history is related to the stories and the legends of Shiva. It was built many years back. The inauguration of the temple is an ambiguous and people worship since centuries. There are many visitors in the month of Shravan (Month of Hindus). Especially, on this month devotees pray to lord Shiva and offer Black Teel, water, cow milk, garlands and flowers on the Shiv linga.

Ghanteswar Siva Temple’s architecture is old in its nature. It was built in the Kalingan style. The Kalinga architecture was famous at that time and majority of temples were built in with this unique style. Its vimana pidh order adorns its beauty.  Its height is about 2.83 meter. Ghanteswar Siva Temple is one of the proofs of the old craftsmanship with carving and dooms.
