Meghalaya Mahadev Khola Dham (shiva Temple)
The temple that is located in Meghalaya on the outskirts at a distance of 5 km in the Upper Shillong from main town of Shillong. The River Umshyrpi drifts in the vicinity of the temple. The history of the temple goes back to the belief that a saint named Lakhiya Baba came pondering this place around 150 years back. During those days the area was covered with thick forests. It is said that a major of the battalion named as SubedarGurkha Rifles dreamt about a saint wearing red color dress and a string made of rudraksh. In this dream the saint asked the major to look for him and as soon as the major started looking for the saint at the location seen in the dream he was able to locate him while searching this place they found a Shivaling and hence the temple is worshipped for Lord Shiva. Following this the flocks of people started worshipping the place and later a temple was constructed.

By Rail

By Air
The nearest airport to reach Shillong is in Guwahati and then a taxi or cab can be taken on rent form airport to reach Shillong. Government of Meghalaya has also operated the service of PawanHans helicopters from Guwahati airport to Shillong that flies to and fro between two locations.
By Road
The state owned buses run by government of Meghalaya and the deluxe coach buses run by the private transport operators ply in this area.
