Maharashtra Shankar Maharaj Samadhi Mandir
Pune city is famous for its various ancient Hindu temples. The renowned Shankar Maharaj Samadhi Mandir or temple is among one of them. Actually it is a grave of Yogiraj Sri Shankar Maharaj. The sacred Samadhi is situated inside the temple. Remember, Yogiraj Sri Shankar Maharaj took his Samadhi in the year of 1869. The temple was constructed to spread spiritual teachings and discourse of Yogiraj. The temple as well as sacred Samadhi is frequented by thousands of visitors or devotees every year. Moreover, according to Yoga groups, Sri Shankar Maharaj was among the top spiritual leaders and Yogis in the country during 19th of century.
History
The prominent Shankar Maharaj Samadhi Mandir or temple was constructed by the flowers of Sri Shankar Maharaj, a well known Yogi in India. The temple was constructed wherein Yogiraj took his Samadhi. The place of Samadhi is considered very sacred among the new Yogis in the world. The sacred temple was designed in typical Indian style of architecture that shows the real picture of Indian culture and tradition. Moreover, it is believed that the Samadhi Sthal or place is an inspiration source for the Yogis to perform spiritual practices. Thus it is mainly visited by the traditional Nath Panth people.
Weather and time to visit
Pune is known for its tropical climate condition. It means , during the summer, the temperature rises to maximum 43 degree Celsius while in winter it could drop down to 6 degree Celsius. Hence, the best time to get there is from the month of March to October. However, followers of Yogiraj can also visit during the Nirvana Diwas of Yogiraj Shankar Maharaj.
