Maharashtra Satpuda Manudevi Temple
The Satpuda Manudevi Temple is situated in Adgaon village, in Yawal taluk, located in the Buldhana District of Maharashtra State. The temple is surrounded by beautiful mountains of the Satpura Range and it has a wonderful local climate, which makes it attractive to visitors from all over the country. This temple also forms the family deity of more than 70% of the villagers who stay in the area.
History
Originally, the temple was lost and locals were unaware of its locations. However in 1259 AD/BC, a local called Shri K Pandu Jeevan excavated the temple from the surrounding shrubbery by mistake. The temple was then supposed to have been a remnant of some ancient civilization that has settled in the area. The large trees in the area added to the isolation and locals stated that Lord Parshurama resided in these trees and welcomed devotees to the area to worship in the temple. The locals then actively undertook renovation efforts on the temple and ancient walls were built up and renovated to form the modern day building. The temple has about 7 – 8 wells in the sanctum region and the temple has several halls that are built for worship.
How To Reach
By Road
The temple can be reached easily by private cars, auto rickshaws and taxis from Jalgaon. It is located off the Yaval Chopda State Highway and is about 9kms from the Adgaon-Kasarkheda. The trip will take two hours and it may cost you anywhere from Rs 500 to about Rs 1000. We recommend you check before you book the vehicle for transport. Buses are also available daily at 9am and 7pm. It takes 1-2 hours to reach the temple from Jalgaon city. There are also three mini buses that start from the Jalgaon Bus Stand and ferry devotees to the temple.
Important Shrines
A simple Hanuman temple has been constructed nearby and tourists who visit the Satpuda Manudevi Temple also visit this temple.
Significance Of The Temple
The origin of the temple and its deity is unknown but local state that the temple deity was the Goddess Renuka or the mother of Lord Parshurama. According to local folklore, the goddess rested at the Satpuda Manudevi Temple after a vicious battle with Mahishasur and his forces. The tired goddess rested at the spot and the temple is supposed to be homage to her.
Weather And Time To Visit
You can visit the temple anytime during the year. However, we recommend visiting the temple between October to December as the gardens are in full bloom and you can also see the local waterfall.

Tips For Devotees
People with a desire to have children can frequent the temple to get a child. The goddess is supposed to be very good towards those seeking her blessings and devotees should carry incense sticks and earthen lamps along with fruits and food offerings. Devotees can request poojas in the temple after providing a small donation. The temple will hold the puja on the arranged date in the name of the devotee. The temple has a beautiful lake surrounding it along with a waterfall that cascades down over 400 feet into a lake at the bottom. The waterfall is visible for 6 – 8 months of the year and it is very beautiful. The temple is also a great picnic spot and students can be seen around the temple enjoying the gardens and the attractions.
Rules And Rituals Of The Temple
Every year, the temple also performs the Navchandi Yagnya during the times of 'Chaitra and Magh Shudda Astanmi’. It’s a good idea to visit the temple during this time to catch the rituals. For devotees, the temple also hosts a special procession of the deity during the months of Margashirsha and Pethori Amavasya of "Shravan". During the Ashwin Month, the temple hosts a Navratna Utsav and procession as well.
