Maharashtra Samartha Ramdas Swami Temple
The prominent Samartha Ramdas Swami temple is considered among the most visited religious shrines in the state of Maharashtra. The sacred worship place is devoted to its main deity Lord Sri Rama. However, there is also an idol of Lord Hanuman has been also installed. The renowned Samartha Ramdas Swami temple is frequented by thousands of devotees every year. Moreover, the temple is famous for celebrating Ramnavami, a festival devoted to Lord Rama. History
The sacred Samartha Ramdas temple was constructed by Saint Samarth Ramdas during the rule of great Maratha king Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaja. Samartha Ramdas was a great devotee of Lord Rama and Lord Hanuman. He constructed various Hanuman and Rama temples in the state of Maharashtra which are now famous as Samartha Ramdas Swami Temples. The renowned Samarth Ramdas Swami Temple of Shivthargal is among one of them. Moreover, it is said that Shivthargal is a place wherein first King Shivaji met saint Ramdas in a cave. The sacred cave can be seen even today.
Weather and time to visit
The tropical climate condition allows visiting the place during the beginning of winter. However, if you want to visit nearby Shivthargal waterfall then you need to visit during monsoon to enjoy natural beauty. However, devotees can also visit during the festivals such as Ramanavami and Dussehara do that they can participate in religious rituals.
