Maharashtra Rameshwar Mandir
The Rameshwar Mandir is an ancient temple located in Revdanda, Maharashtra. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Revdanda is a small village located near Alibaug in the region of Chaul. The region of Chaul is known for its temples. There are 365 temples in the Chaul region which equals the number of days in a year. The village of Revdanda is about 125Km from Mumbai and 17Km from Alibaug.
The Rameshwar Mandir features the exclusive Hemadpanthi style of architecture. As per historic records, the temple has been renovated a number of times. The temple is a wonderful place to spend some relaxing time and to meditate. The temple complex spreads over a huge piece of land and comprises of a large prayer hall and a sanctum sanctorum. The top of the temple has a dome reaching to a height of 7.62 meters.
There is a huge pond in front of the temple which is known as Pokhran in Marathi. There are also three tanks in the temple premises, the parjnya kund, agni kund and wayu kund. These tanks or kunds represent the three elements of nature namely soil, fire and air. The ambience of the temple and its surroundings are quite calm and serene.

The Datta Mandir is located in the Chaul region of Revdanda and is built atop a hill. It is dedicated to “Datta” or the Lord worshipped by the Maharashtrian people. There are 1500 steps to climb to the temple and from here visitors can get a complete view of the entire Revdanda region.
In village the Shitala Devi Mandir is also a worth visiting shrine. The locals believe that goddess “Shitla” protects the village from all problems and calamities. Locals refer to the goddess as ‘AAI’.
