Maharashtra Parvati Temple
Pune city is not only famous for its unique culture and tradition but it also famous for its ancient Hindu temples. The prominent Parvati temple is among one of them. The ancient temple is situated on the top of famous Parvati hill. However, there are some other temples are also located on the hilltop which are devoted to lord Shiva, Lord Ganesh and Lord Vishnu. The sacred Hindu worship place is considered among the most visited Shakti temples in the country. Moreover, festival of Navaratri is highly celebrated here and during the festival time, visitors or followers of Goddess Parvati gather here to have sacred Darshan and blessings of Devi Maa.
History
The renowned Parvati temple was constructed by Peshwa kings during the 17th of century. It is said that the temple used to be solely worship place for Peshwa rulers. It is believed that Devi Parvati was the Kuldevi of Peshwa rulers. The sacred worship place can be visited by scaling total 108 steps made of stone. The temple is a master piece of Maratha style of architecture. Moreover, near the temple, visitors or pilgrims can also see museum that houses various antiques such as weapons of Maratha age, various stone or metal made deities and coins.
Weather and time to visit
Pune enjoys the tropical climate condition. It means during the summer the city becomes hot and humid while in winter it becomes chilly and cold. Hence, the best time to get there is from the month of September to February. Moreover, pilgrims can also visit during the festival of Navaratri.
