Maharashtra Mandher Devi Temple
Satara district is famous for its ancient Mandher Devi temple. It is a Shakti Shrine in the district which is considered among the most visited sacred places in the state of Maharashtra. The ancient temple is situated on hill top about 4,650 feet just above the mean sea level. The temple is surrounded by lush green vegetation and rocks. The famous Purandar fort can also be seen on the Mandher Devi temple. This sacred Hindu worship place is devoted to its main deity called Mandher Devi who is considered as one of the incarnations of Adi-Shaktis.
History
However, there is no written evidence regarding the origin and construction of the temple yet it is believed that it was constructed centuries ago by the Maratha rulers. According to local people the temple is about 400 years old. These presiding deities of the temple are Kaleshwari Devi and Mandeshwar however; the main attraction of the temple is idol of Lord Kalubai. . Moreover, the temple is also renowned for its Kalubai Jatra pilgrimage, a ten days religious festival that mostly held in the month of January every year. Hence, during the festival time devotees from all over the state gather here to have sacred Darshan and blessings of Goddess.
Weather and time to visit
If you have planned to visit at Mandher Devi temple then you need to visit here from the month of March to October. However, the climate condition is always favorable to visit the town. Moreover, you can also visit during the ten-day religious festival to participate in rituals.
How to reach
Some of the nearest railway stations are Wathar railway station only 10 km, Adarki railway station 11 km and Salpa railway station 13 km distance from the temple. However, Lohegoan airport is the nearest airport that connects the city to other parts of the country. Hence, from railway station or airport, visitors or pilgrims can hire bus, taxis and cars to reach at the temple.
