Maharashtra Mahaganapati Temple
Wai town is also called as Dakshin Kashi however, in ancient times it was called Virat Nagari. This small-sized town is renowned for its various beautiful ghats and ancient Hindu temples. The renowned Dholya Ganapati or Mahaganapati temple is among one of them. This sacred Hindu worship place is devoted to its main deity Lord Ganesha. The temple is also famous for its unique architecture which cannot be seen elsewhere in the country.
History
However, there is no proper evidence available regarding the right date of its construction and origin but its is believed that the temple was constructed centuries ago. According to history, the sacred temple was constructed by an unknown dynasty. Moreover, the sacred worship place has been constructed in famous Hemadpanti kind of architecture. The temple was built by using large-sized stone slabs which is the main architectural attraction of the temple. Moreover, according to legend, the Mahaganapati temple has miracle power and whoever visit here and perform a special ritual will be granted his or her wish fulfilled. Apart from that during the festival of Ganesha Chaturthi and Ganesha jayanti, visitors or pilgrims from all over the state gather here to have darshan and blessings of Lord Ganapati.
Weather and time to visit
Wai town is famous for its tropical climate condition hence; the best time to get there is from the month of March to October. However, visitors or pilgrims can also visit during the festival time to participate in special religious rituals.
How to reach
The nearest airport is called Lohegaon which is situated 77 km distance from the temple. However, the Wathar railway station is the closest railway station to the town. Moreover, regular buses, cars and taxis also connect the town to other neighboring cities or towns of the state.
