Maharashtra Jyotibacha Khanderaya Temple
Maharashtra state is not online known for its amazing culture but also for its ancient temples. The prominent Jyotibacha Khanderaya temple is among one of them. This sacred Hindu worship place is famous for its daily rituals. According to legend, Lord Khanderaya and Goddess Jyotibacha killed various demons when they were ordered by Lord Shiva. However, according to another local legend, during the kingdom of Muslim ruler called Aurangzeb, a sage called Manduka performed his penance at this place. It is said when Aurangzeb tried to grab Jyotiba area, he was prevented by a divine power of Khanderaya.
History
However, there is no proper history available regarding the origin and construction of this ancient temple but it is said the temple was built during the 13th of century by an unknown dynasty. However, according to local people, the temple was constructed thousands years ago by Devas or angels. However, the present temple was constructed during 13th of century as per the archeological department of India. The temple is famous for its mythological importance. It is said that Khanderaya was one of the incarnations of Lord Shiva and his consort Jyotibacha was the incarnation of goddess Parvathi. However, according to another local folklore, Jyotibacha and his husband Khanderaya were mysterious horse rider and fighter of God or lord Shiva.
Weather and time to visit
Remember, Jyotibacha Khanderaya temple can be visited throughout the year due to favorable climate condition. However, the best time to get there is from the month of August to November. If you are a follower of Lord Shiva then you can visit the temple during the festival of Mahashivratri to participate in special rituals.

By Air
Lohegaon airport is the nearest domestic airport located only 95 km distance from the town.
By Rail
Some of the nearest railway station are Malthan railway station only 5 km, Boribial railway station 7 km and Bhigwan railway station about 14 km distance from the Jyotiba town.
By Road
Pune district is well connected with other parts of the country by well-developed roads. Hence, visitors or devotees can also hire buses, cars and taxis to reach at the temple.
