History
The sacred Jagruteshwar Mahadev Mandir or temple was constructed by Sambhaji, the great Maratha king during the kingdom of Shivaji. It is said that Shivaji king was a great follower of Lord Shiva and goddess Kali thus he constructed several Hindu temples devoted to Lord Shiva and Goddess Kali. The Jagruteshwar Mahadev temple was constructed in Maratha style of architecture. This temple is a fine example of Maratha architecture. Moreover, the temple is also famous for its daily rituals that are performed by main priest. Apart from that the main attraction of the temple is its Shiva Linga which is believed to be a Swayambhu or self originated.
Weather and time to visit
Climate condition in Maharashtra state is different from all other parts of the country. During the summer, the temperature rises to 45 degree Celsius while in winter it may drop down to 12 degree Celsius. However, during monsoon which can be accord anytime, the city became difficult to visit. Hence, the best time to get there is from the month of March to October.
