Maharashtra Ganapatipule Ganpati Temple

Ganpatipule Ganpati temple is situated at the base of hills and has beautiful surroundings. This temple is dedicated to Lord Ganesha. This temple is said to be constructed before 400 years though no solid historical evidences are available in support. It is also believed that this temple is not made by man. It is just sprung up from the earth itself. It is also a local belief that a day before, the area was normally lying but just on next day a large temple was found in that place. This temple is located in Ratnagiri district established at 375 kilometers from Mumbai. Coastal line of India alongside the Konkan region is the main location of this beautiful temple. Though the village where this temple is located is very small and has less than 100 houses. But this village has some of the beautiful beaches based on Konkan coast.

Architecture

This temple is designed in North Indian style of construction. Porch is in front of the temple and then Garbhalaya and dome at the rear. This is just opposite in south Indian temples where Gopuram is on front portion of the temples. Verandah at three sides of the temple is approximately 9ft wide and provided with a roof of red stone work. This portion is also has a roof over 3ft high walls and the same is in sloppy and step way. At every ft height of the roof there is a slope of 2.6ft and this sequence is repeated at six times. Head of the temple is in double layer and a small cone is fixed just behind the central roof and large one is backing the small cone. Outside of the temple, four pillars have been erected and painted in white and red color giving the entire scene a stunning look.

Best Time to Visit

Late October to the middle period of February month is the finest time to visit this temple as the climate of this area is most convenient at this time. Temperature of this area shuttles between 300 C.

Tourism

State tourism Development Corporation has maintained a resort near the temple to enhance tourism in the area. Location of the resort is just 4 kilometer away from this temple and well connected with road.

Festivals

Gauri Ganpati is one of the most celebrated festivals of this temple. Except this Magh Chaturthi is also celebrated here. Both the festivals are directly related with Lord Ganesha and hence the importance of these festivals is much than other. Date of birth of Bhagwan Ganesh is believed to be on Magh Chaturthi.

Velneshwar, Ratnagiri, Malgund, Jaigad FGort, Pawas, Light House are some of the important attractive places located in the close vicinity of this temple.

This temple is accessible by all type of transportation.

By Air

Belgaum is the nearest airport and located at 299 kilometers from this temple. From airport, frequent railways and road transport are available.

By Rail

Bhoke is the nearest railway station situated in Konkan railway line and located at 35 kilometers. Except this, Ratnagiri, the district headquarters is the other nearest railway station at 45 kilometers. From railway station, BEST buses and private taxies are available to take a devotee to this temple.

By Road

Various road transports from nearby cities like Kolhapur-144 kms, Belgaum at 299 kilometers and Mumbai is located at 375 kilometers.
