Kerala Thamaramkulangara Sree Dharmasastha Temple
According to popular local legend, the Dharma Sastha of city Chamravattom greatly followed on of his best priests from area Morakkala Mana. The priest moved to city Tripunithura. It is said that, Lord Dharma Sastha came to priest and comfortably sat down on the traditional umbrella which was made of palm’s leave. The Lord came in a form of lizard. So, since then it is believed that Lord Ayyappa brings prosperity if worshiped here.
History
Thamaramkulangara Sree Dharmasastha temple is a Hindu worship place. It was owned by renowned Morakkala Mana. However, due to various issues in the family, the main priest of the temple visited the king of Cochin. Priest requested to King that temple should be under the supervision of king’s authority. So, since 1930 to the independence of India, the temple had been managed by the Cochin-king. During the supervision of Cochin-king, the famous Nithya Nidhanam or daily ritual was greatly funded as well as conducted by famous Nadumittom Devasom. Moreover, in the year of 1953, a youth movement was held to replace the management. The main motto of the youth-movement was the improvements and betterment of the Thamaramkulangara Sree Dharmasastha temple. The TASS or Ayyappa Seva Samithy was established in the year of 1963. Moreover, in the year of 1984, the sacred Uranma Devaswom board of Kerala took over the temple management.
Architecture
The temple is not only famous for its sacredness but also for its Indian kind of architecture. However, the temple has been renovated time to time yet its basic structure remains unchanged. The Sopanam doors as well as steps have been covered with brass. Moreover, the sanctum sanctorum of Sree Ayyappa is adorned with copper roofing. The Bhadrakali’s sanctum sanctorum is also adorned with copper roofing. Apart from that, the Namaskara Mandapam as well as Chuttambalam or outer structure is also designed with copper roofing. The sacred sculptures on the temple’s walls show the story of mythological era. The stone pillars in the temple display the traditional south Indian architecture.

By Rail

However, Thamaramkulangara Sree Dharmasastha temple can be visited throughout the year but the best time to visit during the festival season. Some of the important festivals are Pratishtha Dinam, Painguni Uthram, Vishu and Navarathri.
