Kerala Sri Parthasarathy Temple
The Sri Parthasarathy Temple, Aranmula is one of the 108 temples of Vishnu and is located in a village called Aranmula in Kerala. The temple is mainly dedicated to Lord Parthsarathy, who played a great role of Lord Krishna's Charioteer in the Mahabharata. It is located on the left bank of River Pampa. In fact, this temple is considered to be one of the most important temples dedicated to Lord Krishna in Kerala. It is also one of the five shrines in this area of Kerala.
History
As far as the legends are concerned, the Pandava brothers installed Vishnu on the banks of the river in order to offer a place of worship. This temple was built by Arjuna near Sabarimalai and the image was brought in six pieces of bamboo. It was from here that the name was derived. In fact, there are many different legendary myths that are associated with this famous temple.
Event Associated with Temple
A boat race takes place during the Onam and this is an important event associated with the temple. The sacred boat is accompanied by snake boats. Khandavanadahnam is also another event celebrated in this temple. Another important event witnessed is the Meenam where Pathasarathy is taken into a grand possession.

The different events held at different times offer an opportunity to the visitors to visit. There are plenty of buses that run from the nearby cities like Plankamon, Kozhenchery and Pathanamthitta.
