Kerala Sreenarayanapuram Temple
The renowned Sreenarayanapuram temple is located only 4 km distance from town Adoor. This sacred Hindu worship place is devoted to Lord Vishnu. The main attraction this sacred Hindu temple is its ten-day festival called Dasavatarachartu. This ancient temple is considered among the most important Vishnu temples of Kerala state. It is a known fact that Lord Vishnu is considered among the most powerful Gods of Hindu religion.
History
However, there is no scientific evidence found regarding the origin of this sacred temple yet it is believed it is about 800 years old. According to legend, about 800 years, local inhabitants found an idol of Lord Vishnu and installed it into this temple. However, at that, there was no temple, only a divine idol was installed. After sometime a group of sacred people called Niduvappuram Nareekkod decided to construct a temple. Hence, the construction of the temple began and took some years to complete. The temple is surrounded by lush green woodlands. The natural beauty and sacredness of the area attracts thousands of Vaishnovites to gather here and worship Lord Vishnu. However, this sacred Vishnu temple has been renovated time to time by various local kings and inhabitants. Now, it is considered among the oldest Vishnu temples in the country wherein ten-day festival of Dasavatarachartu held annually.
Architecture
The ancient Vishnu temple Sreenarayanapuram is also famous for its unique architecture. The temple is basically divided into two main parts- one is primary section and second one is secondary section. The mandapa has important religious sculptures. The stone pillars in the temple have been adored with mural paintings. The main deity of the temple is Lord Sreenarayana who is considered as one of the incarnations of Lord Vishnu. Moreover, idol of the main deity is famous for its divine glory. During the festival of Dasavatarachartu, visitors or devotees from all over the country gather here to have the sacred Darshan and blessings of Lord Shri Vishnu.
How to Reach
By Road
KSRTC runs regular buses from all the major cities to remote places in the state. Hence, visitors can easily hire a bus to reach at the temple.
By Rail
Reaching at the temple by using services of Indian railway is an affordable and fast transport. some of the nearby railway stations to the temple are Kottarakara railway station only 17 km, Ezhukone railway station 18 km and Sasthankotta railway station also 18 km distance from Sreenarayanapuram temple.
By Air
The nearest airport Trivandrum international airport no only connects the town to all parts of country but also to world.
