Sree Bhavaneeswara Temple is situated at the Palluruthy village of Ernakulam district in Kerala. The temple was built in 1904, by Sree Narayana Guru Swamikal. The temple belongs to Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu deities. Both the deities are worshipped here equally with full glory and grace. The management of the temple is looked up by Sree Dharma Paripalana Yogam which was also established in 1904 under the guidance of Sree Narayana Guru. Sree Narayana Guru is the greatest saint and reformer of India. Devaswom is the manager of the temple and he looks after the administration of the temple.
History
In 1904 Sree Narayana Gurudevan placed the holy idol of Lord Shiva and developed the temple. There are no clues of the discovery of the temple. The temple is acknowledged and managed by the Sree ion of Dharma Paripalana Yogam. The foundation of Sree Dharma Paripalana Yogam is working for the social and cultural and spiritual enhancement from past 102 years. Therefore, Sree Dharma Paripalana Yogam also works for the development of the temple; it has also held a primary school under the blessings of Lord Shiva with the guidance of Sree Narayana Gurudevan in 1916. And till now it is in constant development.
Festival
All the festivals are celebrated here with great enthusiasm and the great grand Mahotsavam festival is celebrated annually in the month of February and March. The festival is held for a long duration of 11 days. The first day of the festival, flag is hosted at the top of the temple and firework is held. And at the eleventh day, the festival ends up with Arattu. The other festivals like Sree Narayana Guru Birthday and Sri Narayana Jayanthi is also celebrated. The Gajpooja is very famous here; during this pooja 108 elephants all dressed up with jewels also worship the idol.
Mode to Reach
The temple is situated in the Ernakulam district which is the main bus stand for the city and is connected to all the bus services across India. By bus it is easily accessible to reach the temple. By train, the Kumpbalam Railway Station is just 4 kms away from the temple. By air, Kochi airport is the only nearest to the temple that is 33 kms away from the destination.
