Kerala Pazhaya Sreekanteswaram Temple
Pazhaya Sreekanteswaram Temple is situated in Puthenchantha town of Trivandrum district of Kerala. This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Existence of this temple is assumed before 9th century CE by the historians though exact dates are not confirmed. Older temple was destroyed in natural calamities and reconstruction done. King of Travancore has built the new temple. Lord Vishnu in for of Lord Krishna and Lord Shiva are the main deities of this temple. A shivling is installed on the Samadhi sthalam of Saint Kanwa. There are the idols of serpent gods and Lord Ganesha also present in this temple. Typically the idols of all the gods in this temple have been placed facing east direction.
Architecture
Originally this temple was constructed in a shape of a simple house. Later due to increase in the strength of devotees the campus developed and extended. The entire construction is sloppy roof type and has an impact of European constructional style. No Gopuram has been built. Still this is hutted type accommodation and a symbol of entrance is made in front of the building. Adjacent to the gate pillars, a shed is also constructed. Though, the hutted building has the Garbhagriha also where the seat of deity is well placed but still the temple has attraction.
Festivals
Mahashivaratri festivals is celebrated in this temple at large scale every year.

Trivandrum is the nearest airport located at 11 kilometers from the temple.
By Rail
Trivandrum is nearest rail head and located 12 kilometers from this temple. Road conveyances’ are easily available.
By Road
Road connectivity is better to reach the temple and city bus terminus is located at 1 kilometers distance from the temple.
