Kerala Mahadevar Temple
Mahadevar Temple, Kaviyoor, Thiruvalla is one of the most famous temples and it belongs to the Thiruvalla group of temples in Kerala. The temple was built in 10th century, and the different wooden sculptures that are part of the temple are of 17th century. Lord Mahadev and Goddess Parvati are the main deities of the temple. This is a very popular temple and is being visited by large numbers of devotes from all parts of India. The temple is constructed in a peculiar Sandhara style. There are many other temples associated within this temple.
History
Though it is believed that the temple was built in the 10th century, but the actual date of construction is not known. There are two inscriptions found at the base of the temple and these are dated as 950 Ad and 951 AD. The exact history of the temple is also not known. The rich artwork of wood is just excellent and is found in different parts of the temple. It is also a wonderful specimen of the architectural style of Kerala.
