Kerala Blandevar Mahavishnu Temple

The Blandevar Mahavishnu temple is a prominent temple in the southern part of India and people from all over India come to seek the blessings of Lord Vishnu, who is the chief deity in the temple. It is a beautifully built temple and its architecture is of South Indian style. It is quite famous for the festivals celebrated in the temple and thousands of devotees throng the temple during the festival period. The temple is a highly revered place to the Shaivaites as well as the Vaishnavaites. How To Reach

By Air

You can reach the temple by air as the nearest railway station is the Cochin Airport which is 24 kilometers away from the place.

By Rail

You can reach Blandevar through rail also as the nearest railway station is 25 kilometers away at Aluva or 30 kilometers away at Ernakulam.

By Road

It is easy to reach the Blandevar temple by road also as it is 6 kilometers away from the Thiruvananthapuram -Angamaly state highway and 6 kilometers away from the Ernakulam-Madurai national highway.

It’s Significance

The temple is one of the oldest and revered religious places in India. It is believed that the idol of Lord Vishnu was found inside a jackfruit tree and thereby its name was derived from there and was called a Blandevar Mahavishnu temple. The main attraction of the temple is that a famous six day festival is celebrated every year. The festival is celebrated in the “atham” in the Malayalam month of “kumbham”. It takes place in the February-March season of the year. One most distinct feature of the temple is a big and old banyan tree which is in front of the temple. People from every section of the social strata come to participate in the six day festival and celebrate it in full fervor and passion. Lord Vishnu is the guiding light for many mortal souls in this world and lead them to the ultimate destination of their lives when they come to this temple and bow down at his feet.
