Karnataka Mookambika Temple
History
This temple is dedicated to Goddess Parvathi and located in Kollur in Karnataka state. It is believed that this temple was created by Parshuram by digging his axe. Other name of Goddess Parvathi is Thai Mookambika. Sauparnika River banks the temple. This temple is well connected by Road from Udupi the nearby bus terminus and located at 80 kilometers from here. Western Ghats hill are the location of this temple. This temple is well built and famous in entire Karnataka state. The surroundings of this temple are full of lush greenery and dense forestry. Kodachadri hill peak is the place where this beautiful temple is located. It is religious belief that the Jyothirlinga is established in this temple is also by Parshuram and the symbol of divine powers of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvathi. Another property of this temple is a large Shree Chakra which is made of Panchloha. This Shree Chakra was presented to this temple by Adi Shankaracharya. An idol of Panchmukhi Lord Ganesha is also established in this temple. Very of the jewels are told as given by the Vijayanagar Empire to this temple.
Architecture
This temple is an example of modern, medieval and traditional constructional patters. This temple is constructed in octagonal shape around a large Mandapam. On both side of Mandapam two huge sheds have been erected to discharge and religious activities and to accommodate the devotees. Inside the temple, there is a Garbhagriha is built and around the same a wide circular space is created for Parikrama of the goddess. This Parikrama Patham is barricaded well to control and regulate the mass during any celebration. In front of the temple, a vedi is also established Roof over the circular Parikrama Patham is of red color and bordered with a permanent carved Jali work for giving the support to the roves of Garbhagrihas.

Connectivity through road is too good and KSRTS buses ply between the temple and nearby bus terminus Udupi located at 71 kilometers from the temple. Private taxies, buses from Tamilnadu Roadways and Andhra Pradesh also ply on this route for conveyance of devotees.
