Karnataka Manjuguni Sri Venkateshwara Temple
History
The temple is located in the green land of Western Ghats of Sahyadri Hills. The temple of lord Venkatarammana was constructed during the reign of Vijayanagar Kings. Vijayanagar Empire was famous to construct temples at large scale. Lord Venkataramanna is an incarnation of Lord Shiva. It is believed that the area is blessed by the lord as various natural calamities could not even disturb this area since long. According to the religious books, Sage Bhardwaja once visited this temple and expressed his wishes to see the king who built it. King refused to meet the sage as he was busy in war with neighbor king. Sage cursed him and requested Lord Shiva to give a lesson to the king. Soon after, King Rajyaverma was defeated by invaders badly and the temple was only the place where he saved his life. Lord Shiva blessed him with life and he reconstructed it with a great devotion.
Architecture
This temple is a great example of traditional construction style of temple of that era. Stone discs have been made and carved beautifully. Entrance of this temple is huge and a Gopuram is constructed over it. Inside the temple there are huge and thick stone pillars are erected and a beautiful carving done on them. Every pillar is of square shaped at the bottom and has idol of god or goddess. Upper portion of the pillars is having huge stone discs displaying the brilliance of architecture of that period. A huge weighing scale is also there and it is believed that good works and evils of every devotees comes here are weighed and accordingly the blessings provided by Lord. Floor of the temple is made of stone and has the resemblance with Hoysala era temples.

By Air
Panjim and Mangalore are the nearest airports and from there frequent road connections are available. Airport is located at 195 kilometers from this temple.
By Rail
Kumta is the nearest railway station located at 35 kilometers from this temple. Road connectivity is better that other part of the state.
By Road
Sirsi is the nearest bus terminus located at 26 kilometers. Road conveyances are also available from other nearby places. Hubli and Kumta are another nearby places at 130 and 35 kilometers respectively.
