Karnataka Kalikaamba Temple
History
Sri Kalikamba Vinayaka temple is a joint establishment of Lord Ganesha and Goddess Kalikamba. This temple is located in the urban area of the Mangalore city of Karnataka state. Notice of this ancient temple was taken seriously and extensive renovation was done in the year 2000. Granite was used in re-construction of Garbhagrihas for Lord Ganesh and Goddess Kalikamba. Goddess Kali is also known as Kalikamba in this region. In other words, Kalikamba is an incarnation of Goddess kali. Lord Ganesha is also known as Sri Vinayaka. Lord Vishwakarma who is known as father of architecture of every type is also located in this temple. Nagraja Vasuki, who was used as a rope during Samudra Manthan, is also located in this temple. Except this, Navgraha and Vasantha Mantapa are also has sculptures in this temple. Geographical coordinates of this temple are between 12°52'12"N 74°50'5"E. Vishwakarma Brahmins are the main community who maintain this temple. Various persons who are in work with as Goldsmith, black smith, carpentry and other constructional business.
Architecture
This temple has a hall type structure where in all the amenities including the seats of both the deities are established. This hall has been designed as a huge Mandapam where ever Pooja ceremony takes place. The Garbhagrihas of the temple have no carving and are plain construction. In Mandapam there are four thick pillars are erected to provide support of roof of the Mandapam. Except this, all the structure is hall for accommodating the devotees and ceremonial activities. A temporary structure (hutted and supported with poles and corrugated galvanized iron sheets) is also there. Inside the temple, there is a Math of Sri Nagalinga Guru is also established.
Festivals
Ugadi is the main festival celebrated here for a 10 days long period. On this occasion several cultural activities are also performed by the local people. Devotees across the country participate in this function. During Shravan various Pooja celebrations are organised in this temple. Accept this annual Deepotsava is also celebrated in this temple. Upanayan Sanskara at large level is also organised at every 5 years.

By Air
Mangalore Bajpe airport is the nearest one and from where local transportation is easily available as the temple located in the city itself.
By Rail
Mangalore is the only nearest railway station. Various mail and express trains of broad gauge are well connected to this station from various parts of the country.
By Road
By road conveyance is also possible from neighboring cities as KSRTC buses are plying between Bangalore, Mysore, Hasan etc to reach this temple.
