Karnataka Ghati Subramanya Temple Doddaballapur
Ghati Sri Subramania Temple is the pride of Bangalore and Lord Lakshmi Narsimha is the presiding deity of this temple. This temple is equally visited by all the south Indians residing in Karnataka but most of the devotees are of Tamil speaking. This temple is located at approximately 60 kilometers from the main city Bangalore and located in Dodaballapur. This temple is not only important for religious purposes but also serves a spot where weekends can be passed in easy and peaceful manner. Heavenly peace of this area attracts a large number of devotees. Couples, who seek a baby, come to this temple to get the blessings of Lord.
History
This temple is an example of ancient architecture. Traditional Dravidian style of architecture is inspiring though, various temple constructed in the close vicinity are of the same style but some difference in construction make it unique. Lord Nanjundeshwara once urged Lord Vishnu to give shelter to Chamundeshwari Devi. Lord Vishnu fired on Asuras and saved Chamundeshwari Devi. Since them Lord Lakshmi Narsimha and Lord Subramania are residing together to ensure closer supervision of Chamundeshwari Devi. Their temples are also built on various places of the country.
Architecture
This temple is constructed under typical Dravidian style. This temple has no historical evidence in support of date of construction. Idol established inside the temple is said to be a self created and no records available regarding the sculptor of this idol or temple. Idols of Lord Lakshmi Narsimha and Lord Subramania are standing at back to back support position facing at opposite directions. A mirror has been placed in such a manner so that devotees can get the “Darshan” of Lord Subramania at the same time when they facing Lord Lakshmi Narsimha.
Festivals
In this temple, Pushpa Suddha Shasti festival is celebrated on large scale every year. This day is celebrated as birth day of the presiding deity of the temple.
Skandh Shasti is also celebrated here as the same day, was a favorite worship day of Lord Narsimha.
Phaguni Uttam
This day is the marriage anniversary of Lord Narsimha. Except this, Vaikashi Vishakham is also celebrated and it is believed that the couples seeking a baby come across the country to this temple to celebrate this festival with great devotion. In local people, there is a tradition to come here on foot and without drinking water.
