Karnataka Annapoorneshwari Temple Horanadu
The Annapoorneshwari temple is situated at Horanadu in Karnataka. The temple stands at a distance of 100 km from Chikmagalur, amidst the broad valleys and thick forests of the Western Ghats. The temple is located at one of the ancient lands of Chikkamagaluru district in Karnataka, where natural vegetation grows in abundance and green forests flourish.
History
The deity at this remote temple has been re-established as Adi Shaktyatmaka Shree Annapoorneshwari. The idol stands on peeta with Sri Chakra, Chakra, Shanka and Devi Gyatri in her four-armed posture. Sage Agasthya established the temple with his devotion to Adi Shaktyatmaka Shree Anaapoorneshwari.
Discovery of Holy Shrine
The temple is centuries old, of about 400 years. The holy ritual of dharmakartharu is performed here. Devi Annapoorna is the Goddess of rice; ‘Anna’ (rice) and ‘Poorna’ (fulfillment). According to Hindu mythology, the rice bowl in the deity’s hand never runs out of rice and She feeds one and all. People who offered puja at the temple were offered some food to eat.

People usually keep a fast before offering puja. After puja, the devotees are offered food and rice free of cost. The ritual is granted as an earnest blessing by Adi Shakthyatmaka Shree Annapoorneshwari.
