Jharkhand Shakti Mandir
The city of coal the name given to city of Dhanbad is also famous for the Shakti Mandi that has been dedicated to Goddess Durga. Goddess Durga is also called as the Goddess of Power or Shakti after which the temple of Shakti Mandir has got its name. The temple is located on the Joraphatak road that is in the city of Dhanbad. In the vicinity of the temple there is a jyoti or a lighted lamp that has been brought from the Vaishno Devi temple and this jyoti is named as the akhand jyoti. In the temple the devotees sing the bhajans and kirtans. The jagran is performed full night reciting the bhajans of Maa Durga. The festivals that are celebrated in the temple with all pomp and show are Dussehera and Diwali. The temple also sees crowd of people visiting its premises especially on Tuesdays and Fridays.
