Jharkhand Devi Shaktipith
It is a well known Hindu pilgrims’ area and devotees from all over the country visit here every day. The presiding deity of this sacred Devi Shaktipith is headless Maa Chinnamasta who stands on Rati and Kamdev’s body. The temple is basically known for its Indian ancient Tantrik or mystical works. However, one can also see here images or idols of other important Hindu Gods and Goddess such as Lord Hanuman, Surya or Sun God and Bhagwana Shiva.
History
According to the Hindu Mythology, the temple was built many centuries ago which today doesn’t exist. However, present temple has been renovated recently and the deity of the temple is an original idol which was installed in old temple. The meaning of Chhinnamasta is person whose head is greatly severed. The idol of main deity in the temple, Maa Chhinnamasta stands on the bodies of Rati and Kamdev or sex God, having her head in one hand and blood streams are coming out of her neck. The two lady attendants as well as Maa Chhinnamasta herself are drinking the blood coming out of her neck.
According to the Hindu mythology, Chhinnamasta Maa is a form of energy thus devotees worship her in order to gain spiritual or supernatural power. Maa Chhinnamasta is considered as a Devi of Indian Tantra Shashtra or mystical deeds.
How to Reach
By Air
If you have planned to reach at Devi Shaktipith by using air-transport then you can easily find direct flights from various domestic airports in the country. However, the nearest airport is Ranchi airport situated only 58 km distance from Rajrappa.
By Rail
Barkipona railway station is situated only 10 km distance from Rajrappa town.
By Road
Visitors can easily get local transport such as buses, cars and taxis across the state. It is a known fact that Rajrappa area is well linked with other neighbouring cities or towns of the state by roads thus easy to reach here by using roadways.
Weather and Time to Visit
The climate condition of Ranchi is very changeable. During the summers (April to August) the temperature becomes very scorching and hot while in winters (November to February) the temperature becomes cold. However, monsoon season offers good rains thus the best time to visit at Devi Shaktipith is from October to March.
