Delhi Sri Aiyyappa Swamy Temple
The temple has been designed in such way so that it displays the image of ancient Aiyyappa temples in the country. According to the Hindu mythology, when sage Parshuram, one of the incarnation of lord Vishnu decided not to kill more Kshatriyas then he threw his axe in a river and established a temple for Shri Aiyyappa,. So, there are various Aiyyappa temples have been established in the country.
History
However, there is no proper written evidence found regarding the construction of this sacred temple yet it is said that it was constructed by some followers of Aiyyappa Bhagwana. According to the Hindu mythology, Lord Aiyyappa came to earth in order to meditate. Hence, the place wherein lord Aiyyappa did meditation, a temple was constructed that later became famous as Aiyyappa temple. So, after that sacred Aiyyappa temple, followers of Aiyyappa Bhagwana constructed several other temples in the country and abroad. The main motto of Sri Aiyyappa Swamy temple in Mayur Vihar is to spread sacred teachings and discourses of Lord Sri Aiyyappa. Moreover, during the festival of Aiyyappaotsava, a festival devoted to Lord Sri Aiyyappa, devotees all around the neighbouring parts of the state gather here to have sacred Darshan and blessings of Aiyyappa Bhagwana.

Weather and Time to Visit
Delhi city has a tropical climate conditions. It means, during summers it becomes hot and scorching and temperature rises to 46 degree Celsius while in winters it becomes cold and temperature can often drop down to 1 degree Celsius. However, monsoon usually occurs in the month of July and offers good rainfalls. So the best time to visit at Sri Aiyyappa Swamy Mandir or temple is from the month of October to March. However, Aiyyappa followers can visit at the temple throughout the year.
