Chhattisgarh Lakshman Temple
It is one of the most attractive bricks-made temples in the country which was made during the 7th of century. This sacred temple is considered as the most distinguish brick-built temple in the country. Apart from that its religious significances and sacred sculptures attract thousands of visitors or devotees towards it.
History
The temple was constructed during the 7th of century by Rajmata Vasata who was the mother of King Mahasivagupta Balarjunaji. It is the most preserved magnificent Hindu worship place, situated at ancient place of Sirpur. It stands on very high enormous platform and can be accessible by various steps in both sides south as well as north. Moreover, the plan of this sacred temple holds an important Antarala, Mandapa and Garbhagriha. However, the sacred Mandapa has now become ruins. Here, devotees can also discover various sculptures on several incarnations of lord Vishnu. In addition to it this Hindu worship place is considered among the fine examples of ancient brick temples. Apart from that due to its religious importance, devotees from all over the country visit here to have sacred Darshan of Lord Vishnu throughout the year. The weather of Sirpur town is just like all other parts of Chhattisgarh state. It means, during the winters the temperature may fall down to 13 degree Celsius while during summers it may rise to 42 degree Celsius. Hence, the best time to visit at Sirpur area or Lakshman temple would be from the months of October to March. However, religious-festival-period could be the best time for pilgrims to visit at Lakshman temple.
