Bihar The Maa Mundesvari Temple
History
Kaimur city has a mixed culture of Islamic and Hindu traditions and thus every activity in this city has the resemblance of both the religions. Maa Mundeshwari temple which is located at the hillocks of Bhabhua is also one of the best examples of mixed architectural style. In this city, there are a lot of temples and monuments of historical importance. Maa Mundeshwari temple is located at 22 kilometers away from main Kaimur city near Bhabhua. This temple is considered to be constructed during 108 AD. There are confluences for dates of the construction of this temple. According to some researches, this temple was built in the Gupta era approximately in 320AD. Official records available with Bihar Religious Trust Board state that this temple was constructed in 105 AD. Presently this temple is being looked after by ASI (Archeological Survey of India) and physical maintenance is being done by Bihar State government. This temple is in damaged condition and the restoration of remaining portion is being done by ASI. This temple is unique in the world that inspite of having no shape and space, worship is continue here throughout the year (including nights). With this aspect, this temple is the world busiest temple. Presiding deity of the temple is also an incarnation of Durga as Shakti.
Architecture
Though, at present there is no attractive erection in this temple, but the remains says once upon time the Nagra style of architecture of this temple had a dignity and glory. Presently there are four entrances at all side. Main gate of the temple is not too large but the establishment of the entrance gate above 3 ft from ground level shows the architectural brilliance of that period. Surrounding area of the temple is filled with water during monsoon season but inside the temple no water infiltration is seen ever. At the entrance gate, Ganga Maa, Yamuna Ji, Dwarpals including other murties are present in a fine carving. Stone cutting was done in efficient manner. In this temple the main seat is of Goddess Durga and also a Shivling is established near the idol of Goddess Durga. Goddess is present with her ten hands and riding on the buffalo. The goddess is also known as Mahishasurmardini. Pillar to hold the load of roof and walls with heavy stones were erected in appropriate manner with sufficient and necessary carving. Presently the remaining part of this temple has roof including fort like boundary on the top. This temple is presently under the maintenance control of Archeological Survey of India.
Festivals
Ram Navmi, Durga Ashtami, Mahashivaratri, Krishna Janamashtami, Hanuman Jayanti and Mauni Amavasya are celebrated at this temple every year with great concern. Devotees across the country participate in these festivals. Durga Ashtami is celebrated till 7 days.

This village is located at 9 kilometers distance from this temple. Lord Shiva temple is established here and constructed in 812 AD. This temple has historical and religious importance for visitors coming to Kaimur.

Siddhnath Temple
A famous temple dedicated to lord Shiv is located here. This temple is the result of efforts made by a monk Ratanpuri Baba. This temple is located at the banks of Karmanasha River.

By Air
Varanasi is the nearest airport located at 104 kilometers from this place. Though, Kaimur comes under Patna division but Patna is 198 kilometers far located. Road transportation is good to Kaimur and then to Maa Mundeshwari Temple.
By Rail
Mohania is the nearest railway station and located at 14 kilometers from this temple. Railway station is also known as Bhabhua Road. Various express trains pass through this station.
By Road
National highway 30 is started from Kaimur city and connects this temple at 22 kilometers distance. State transport buses and private taxi operators are also available at cheaper rates.
