Bihar Parasnath Temple
However, it is not very old temple but still it has much religious significances. The temple got its name from Shri Parasnathji, the sacred 23rd religious Tirthankara of peaceful Jain community. It is said that Shri Parasnath attained Nirvana or enlightenment at this sacred place.
History
The hilly area wherein the temple situated is also called Parashnath hills. This sacred hill is 4480 feet high and covered a large area. The Hazaribagh area is only 90 km distance form Parasnath hill area. Hence, visitors or devotees can easily find local transport such as Taxi or bus to reach here.
The renowned temple of Parasnath displays great teachings or rules of Jain Munis or saints through its sacred sculptures. This sacred temple has been constructed of pure marble as well as its walls carries important sculptures of Jain religion. However, the Temple of Parasnath is not very old but the deity or idol kept inside it is really old. So, due to its religious significances, thousands of devotees visit here to have sacred Darshan and blessings of God. Moreover, during the festival time of Mahavir Jayanti, the Parasnath temple becomes a place of pilgrim’s crowd. Moreover, barring the temple of Shri Parasnath, there are also various important Jain temples found in the area that belonging to Svetamber and Degamber ideology.
How to Reach
By Road
The area of Parasnath hill is situated at district Giridh which is highly connected with all other major towns or cities of the state by roadways. Hence, devotees or visitors can easily find local road-transport to reach at Parasnath temple. Visitors can visit this sacred place by hiring bus, taxi and private cabs.
By Train or Rail
Parasnath railway station is the nearest railway station which is situated on Delhi-Howrah high-way. However, visitors can also reach here by using some other adjacent cities or town’s railway stations.
By Air
Visitors or pilgrims can also use air-transport to reach at Parasnath temple. Some of the nearest airport are including Ranchi airport only 154 km, Gaya airport only 167 km and Patna airport about 221 km distance from Giridh district.
Weather and Time to Visit
The climate condition of Parasnath hill area is like all other parts of the Bihar state. During the summers, the temperature rises to 40 degree Celsius while in winters it could be down to 7 degree Celsius. So, the best time to visit at Parasnath temple is from the month of October to March. However, devotees can visit during the religious festival of Mahavir Jayanti as well.
