Assam Negheriting Shiva Doul
Negheriting Shiva Doul is among various Shiva Temple located in Assam state of India. This temple is located on national Highway No 37 in Golaghat district and the same was constructed by the Kachari Kings during their reign in 8th century AD. Earlier this temple was made of a single stone rock, which was demolished by various natural calamities. But after Kachari Kings constructed this temple the same was renovated again by Ahom King Rajeshwara Singha. The temple was planned and designed by Ghansham Khonikar who was the famous architect of that era. The re-construction was done during the year of 1687. This is a general belief in the area that the initial stone which was used to construct this temple was taken along from the holy river Dihing. The ruins of the lost temple were later found in the forest of Gajapanemara. The same was discovered by an Ahom King Siusenphaa during his reign in 1439 onwards and he established Shiva Linga at this temple. In due course, Dihing river changed its path and the temple was later again demolished by the natural calamities and merged into the water. Some of the ruins of this temple were found in the water by a devotee of Lord Shiva and the same was reported to King Rajeshwara Singha. The king built this temple in during his reign in 1751 – 1769. This area is the natural habitat of a bird named Negheri and on the name of this bird the area called as Negheriting. This temple is also called “Panchayatana Temple” as four gods are present with Lord Shiva at this place.
Architecture
This is the simply designed temple and in close surrounding, there are four other temples. Main deities of these temples are Vishnu, Ganesh, Surya and Durga. A shivling is established in the central portion of this temple is of approximately 3 mtr diameter. This temple is famous for various Shivling as the same were told to be collected by a monk named Urba. Another Kashi should establish at this place, by this thinking various Shivlings were collected by the Rishi Urba. Entrance of this temple is generally not huge and only at one portion, the architectural mixture is seen that is Garbhalaya of the temple. Exteriors are of Rajput style of construction and interior decorations are like Dravidian style. A 7 ft high base is also established there as a symbol of Shivling. Three small domes and one big dome on Garbhalaya of Mandir are built with the sound ratio of construction. The major dome has been created according to the height of the central hall (Garbhalaya) and remaining 3 domes are according to the entrances and porches inside the temple.
This temple is the habitat of a specific race of Rhesus monkeys.

By Air
Nearest airport to reach this temple is Jorhat located at 60 kilometers distance and road conveyances are easily available from airport to this temple.
By Rail
Golaghat is the nearest railway station and connected with Broad gauge and meter gauge lines from Guwahati, and other cities of Assam.
By Road
This temple is easily reachable by roads as National Highway No 37 is 1.5 kilometers away from this temple near Dergaon. Routine bus services from Guwahati and other parts of the state are available to access this temple. Accept roadways buses, some private tour operators are also in market with their Luxury, A/C and non A/C buses/taxies on affordable charges.
