Assam Hajo
Hajo is famous pilgrimage place equally important for Hindus, Muslims and Buddhists since long. Hajo is the place which filled with various temples in short surroundings. Brahmaputra River banks this place.
History
Hajo is one and only place in India where no communal misbalance has seen ever. The town is a mixed population of Hindus, Muslims, Buddhists and Christians. A few Sikh families also residing there but the communal harmony of the area is like an example for rest of the country. A Ganesh Temple was constructed in this area during 1744 AD by the King Pramatta Singha. The king was from Ahom dynasty.

Hayagriva Madhava Temple
Monikut hill of is the main place of this temple. This temple was built by the King Raghuvendra Narayan during 1583. There is a conflict regarding construction date of this temple. According to some historians, this temple is constructed in 16th century by the Kings of Pal dynasty. This temple is made of stone and no bricks have been used. According to some Buddhist historians, this temple is actually a Hindu temple but Lord Budhh attained Nirwana at this place. Main deity of this temple is Narsingh (Narsimha of south India) who is also a form of Lord Vishnu. Asamees style of architecture is also seen in this temple as the idols of stone elephants are fixed in a row to the passage of this temple are beautifully carved. This temple is equally important both by Hindus and Buddhists.
Hajo Powa Mecca
This is a pilgrimage of Muslim community. The word Powa has the meaning of a quarter (1/4th). It is said that this mosque was constructed from the holy soil of Mecca and thus the name of this mosque is Powa Mecca. In this mosque, there is a small tomb of Pir Ghayasuddin Auilia, who is the main person behind spread of Islam in this area. Construction of this mosque was done during 1657 by Sujauddin Mohammad Shah when the reign of Emperor Shahjahan was on peak.
Madan Kamdev Temple
This temple is situated in the outskirts of Hajo on the Dewangiri Hills. This temple was constructed by the Kings of Kamrup dynasty.
