Gingee is a panchayet tehsil in the Viluppuram district in Tamilnadu. Gingee is situated between three hills. The actual name of Gingee is Sengiri. It means red hill in Tamil. Some say that the name Sengiri is originated from the hill Sanjeevi, mentioned in the Ramayana, from where Hanumana got the life saving herb, Sanjeevani Booti for Lakshmana. The tehsil of Gingee is bordered by several hills, made of volcanic rocks. Even though the land is very dry, the landscape of Gingee is exclusive and amazing.
