Sivaganga district is one districts of Tamil Nadu state in India. The district is surrounded by Ramanathapuram, Virudhunagar, Madhurai, Tiruchirapalli and Pudukkottai districts. The district was separated from Ramnad district and started functioning from 15-03-1985. Sivaganga districts total area is covered to 4,189sqkms. It is located from the Latitude of 9.43' North between 10.2' north and from Longitude of 77.47' east to 78.49' east.

Sivanganga district was ruled by Regunatha Sethupathy who’s also known as Kilavan Sethupathy was the 7th king of Ramnad ruled between 1674 and 1710.

The main occupation of this region is agriculture where, economically over 72.8% of the population is dependent on it. The maximum soil present in this region is red soil. Paddy is the main crop that is grown in this district. Some other crops that are grown here are Pulses, cereals, Sugarcane and groundnut etc. The district is famous for its industrial growth that includes Sugar industry, Television plant & Solar Power Farm.
