Pudukkottai district is one the districts located in Tamil Nadu state in southern India. It was separated from the division of Tiruchirrappalli district n January 14th 1974 and few additions from Thanjavur district.

Geographically, its total area is covered up to 4663sqkm and it is located between the Longitude of 78.25' and 79.15' and between the Latitude of 9.50' and 10.40'. It is surrounded by Bay of Bengal, Sivaganga district, Tiruchirappalli district and Thanjavur district. It was said that Pandyas Empire was the first who ruled this region during Sangam period.

Pudukkottai district climatic conditions are recorded as in the summer season, the temperature can increase up to 40.9 °C and in winter season it decreases to 17.8 °C. During rainy season the average rainfall of southwest monsoon is measured as 346.4 mm and the northeast monsoon is measured as 403.2mm.

• Chithannavasal: Chithannavasal is 16kms away from Pudukkottai district. Chithannavasal is an Rock-cut cave temple that has been renovated with fresco paintings in all natural colors.
• Thirumayam Fort: This fort was built in 1687AD and was an attributed to Sethupathi of Ramanathapuram.
