Rasipuram is a municipality situated in district Namakkal  in Tamil Nadu. The city is 27 km away from Salem. It has its name after the Raajapuram which plainly means the town of King's .It is a part of primeval Kongu Nadu & the district is called Rasipura Nadu which is an inner separation of Kongu. It is well known for its handloom sarees specially silk sarees. The great Shiva temple of this place is very famous. It was made by ruler Valvil Ori approximately in 1st or in the 2nd century. This is assumed that the temple has a secret pathway to Arapallishwarar on the peak of Kolli hill. These hills are famous for their curative herbal flora & natural sugar. The province, Nagaratchi of city Rasipuram previously was in the control of district Salem and it was later directed by the District range of Namakkal. It is well-known for its genuine making of ghee & maintains its position after Oothukuli. As said earlier it is very famed for silk sarees popularly known as Rasipuram Silks.
