Vedaranyam is one tehsil in district of Nagapattinam of Tamil Nadu state in India. This place is famous for Vedaranyeswarar Temple. This town got its name from this temple. As per rough estimates, they produce annually edible salt of around 200000 tonnes and salt of industrial grade of more than 500000 tonnes.
