Tirumangalam, also called the Junction City in Madurai in Tamil Nadu. It is a city & municipality also .Its temperatures in summer reaches, 40 C max. & 26.3 C min.,although temperature more than 42 C is very common. Winter temperatures lies from 29.6 C to 18 C. Here males are highly educated rather than females . Census declares that main coporations slightly higher than females corporation. Main occupation of this town is agricultural , fishing , handlooms etc. It is also known for the fact that Mangalyam for Lordess Meenakshi was made and done here, so it got its name TiruMangalyam. In another way, it is believed that when god Murugan married Theivanai in the nearby place called Thiruparankundram , the "Tirumangalyam" was made here&so it got its name.There are many worship places such as,Meenakshiamman Temple, Shri Pathrakali Mariamman Temple, Mariamman Temple, Shri Kattumariamman Temple, Kumaran Koil, Keelapallivasal, Mohamedshapuram Mosque, Melapallivasal , PudhuTheru Mosque, C.S.I. The Mariamman Temple situated here is very famous, & the Devi at the Patrakali Amman temple is said to be greatly powerful.Yearly, in the month of Vaikasi, a 13-day festival is organised,called "Vaikasi thiruvizha", along with daily pujas & exhibitions.
