Peraiyur is a panchayat town and a municipality in Madurai inTamil Nadu. It is also an important industrial & educational center of South Tamil Nadu. It is a home to several rubber, automobile, chemical & granite manufacturing industries.It has now developed as a 2nd tier city for IT and a few software companies are also being opened their centers here. The soil type found here is predominantly while red loam , clay loam & black cotton varieties are widely common in the outer edge of the city. The major crop is Paddy, includes millet, pulses, oil seed, sugarcane &cotton.Its temperatures in summer reaches, 40 C max. & 26.3 C min. , although temperature more than 42 C is very common. Winter temperatures lies from 29.6 C to 18 C. It is, recognized as growth of vehicles, urbanisation, and industrial activity. Here males are highly educated rather than females . Census declares that main coporations slightly higher than females corporation. It has many important government educational institutes namely Homeopathic Medical College, the Madurai Medical College, Agricultural College, and Madurai Law College and also a research institute which provides education to canditates in Tamil Nadu.It is developing and includes many villages also.
