Cheyyur town is a part of district Kanchipuram in a southern state, Tamil Nadu in the Indian country. Its headquarter is the town of Cheyyur close to Chennai. It has a pretty village which is located around 29 km away from Madurantakam, Central Government has proposed to develop a 4000 MW Ultra Mega Power Plant at Cheyyur. This little hamlet was prior known as Jayamkonda- Belapuri ,Cholapuram, and Seyyur In earlythis area was a dark jungle and it was set aside as a store for the Chola kings of vanniya to track. During their reign Chola Kings constructed a temple. The temple is around eight hundred years old and it is very ancient, this is a well known temple called Cheyyur Shiva Temple.
