Kangeyam is situated in Erode district in Tamil Nadu. It was the capital of Kongu Nadu for many past years . It is situated in the heart of the Erode district.Its geographical location made all the buses available in all parts of Tamil Nadu from here. It comes under Erode  District & Dharapuram revenue division. People of Kangeyam are very decent and hospitable.Though they are dominant and industrialists, they never fell in the public riots. That is why it is well known for its religious & communal harmony.People are also known for their rich tradition & economical growth. Poverty is very low in comparison to national and state level. People have faith in Lord Murugan.Its temple Lord Murugan is located at the peak of the hill and can be travelled both by steps & by road. This place is very calm & clean. The statue of God Murugan was an incredible one amid beautiful work. Numerous festivals celebrated here. Among which "Thearotam" or Car festival is very much appreciated. It ends after three days. Agriculture is the main occupation till 1990s. Owing to poor returns in agriculture , nowadays people start having a side business along it so as to fulfill their needs.
