Gobichettipalayam popularly known as Gobi is a town in Erode District in  Tamil Nadu. It is an important town in the northwest part of Tamil Nadu . It is approximately 35 km away from the district.It is also called 'Chinna Kodambakkam' or 'Mini Kollywood' because of the Kongu Tamil film shooting that takes place here. English is the official language along with Tamil. Other languages that are spoken here are  Kannada ,  Malayalam, &Telugu.

Its cuisine is mainly consist of South Indian dishes  with rice as its base. Most of its locals still carry on their rural tradition,as a result , many restaurants still servs food on a banana leaf. Chinese , Continental and North Indian cuisines are also available here. Mysorepa is a desert made from lentil mix & Halwa which is also a sweet but it is made up of special components like wheat, milk and rice and it is very popular desert of here.  Dosa, Vada-Sambar, Idly & Biryani are very well-liked among the inhabitanats.

It is developing quickly & has been illustrated by the government as "Bi-functional" . Numerous banks have been established here in recent years .
