Vedasandur is a tehsil in district of Dindigul of Tamil Nadu, a state in South of India. This name derives from Vedan Sandhaiur. At this place, hunters used to come and sell goods like honey, animal nails and leathers and whatever they gather during their hunting. Meaning of Vedan is hunter and Sandhai means a place for selling something. Agriculture is main occupation for most people. A lot of mills for yarn spinning are now running in this tehsil. This tehsil has been one centre of trade in tobacco and cigar manufacturer from British rule time. Winston Churchills favorite cigar, Light of Asia was a production of this tehsil. One of main employment source for inhabitants of this tehsil is this tobacco industry. Nearest towns from this tehsil are Dindigul, Palani, Karur, Madurai and Trichy. There are three Panchayat unions Gujiliamparai, Vadamadurai and Vedasandur.
