Cuddalore district is one of the districts located in Tamil Nadu in southern India. The district is surrounded by the Bay of Bengal on the east, Perambalur district on the west, Viluppuram district on the north and Nagapattanam district on the south side.

The district geographically covers an area of 3,678sqkm. The climatic conditions of the district are bearable to some extent. During summer season the temperature maximum increases up to 41°C (106°F). In the winter season the temperature decreases to 20°C (68°F). During the rainy season at a normal level monsoon from Northeast is 716.5mm and Southwest Monsoon is 373.6mm. At an actual level monsoon that comes from Northeast is 1346.1mm and Southwest monsoon is 340.3mm.

In the district the administrative residence of district administration was built by Mr. Robert Clive in the history. This place famous for the Lord Nataraja temple where, the origins of the Nataraj sculpture is in Chidambaram which is located in Cuddalore district.

Cuddalore district is a rich in agricultural activities. It stands in the top position for the production of Cashew nuts in Tamil Nadu state. The main crops that are sown and produced are: Rice, Millets, Sugarcane, Gingelly, Cotton and Pulses. In the district also runs a small scale industry such as, Khadi and Village industries.
