Origin
It is believed and said that the Salakrama Hills were brought by Lord Anjaneya from Nepal upon the instructions of Guru Narasimha Murthy and he gave the name of Namakkal. The Lord presented himself with hands in Vishwarupa Darshan worshipping in an open terrace by exposing himself to the natural calamities such as storm, hot sun and flood. It was believed that his height keeps growing. The Namakkal people pray to him to give him the blessings of fine speech, wealth, boldness, success, health and good sense.
A vital role has been played by him in the kingdom of Lord Sri Rama. He has served him in all possible ways like in his personal life as a servant in the political operations as a Minister in his military as a knight etc. and therefore, he has dressed himself with short sword, silk cloths, diamond and gold ornaments which suited his responsibilities and roles.
