Hanuman Puttaparthi Andhra Pradesh
Anjaneya Temple is flanked by 2 shrines and is located at the Gopuram road. It presents a sacred and serene ambiance to the people. The temple entrance is marked by a Siva Lingam brought from Kasim by Sai Baba. The most interesting thing about this shrine is the sanctum there where the deity of the God is placed as if it is engraved there on a cavern. Hanuman is famous for his devotion and dedication towards Rama. The temple depicts and shows a pool having water at the deity’s foot that reflects the devotion of Hanuman towards Rama. For the devotees, this pool water symbolizes the tears of Hanuman.
Like the other places in Puttaparthi, the Anjaneya Temple is a very important place and Sathya Sai Baba’s anecdote. According to the story, Sai Baba was stopped by the deity while he was soon to circumambulate the Hanuman temple by stating that the deity is the one required to pay respect and reverence.
History
Anjaneya or the Hanuman temple is a famous temple of Lord Hanuman. There is a belief behind this temple that the pool water inside the temple is made out of the tears of Lord Hanuman that was due to reason that the deity stopped Sai Baba during the temple’s circumambulation due to not paying respect and reverence. The image inside the temple depicts Hanuman’s carvings which are standing inside in a cave.
The temple is located near Satyabhama Devi’s temple and his idol is carved inside a cave. There is an installation of a Shivalingam at the temple’s entrance fetched from Varanasi by Sri Sathya Sai.

Other attractions nearby or in Puttaparthi include the village mosque, Satyabhama temple built by the grandfather of Satya Sai Baba, Late Kondama Raju. Another same temple was constructed recently on the route of Bangalore by the elder brother of Satya Sai Baba, Seshama Raju. Other than these temples, there is also a Shiva temple constructed on the birth site of Satya Sai Baba. Another important place is located on the Chitravathi River banks known as the wishing tree. This is a meditation tree which is located towards the university on a hillock and has gained huge importance. The cultural and educational institutions have been emerged as very important places in the current scenario. The Indian village scene can also be witnessed here by taking an auto for the village tours which are surrounded by small towns.

The APSRTC buses along with the KSRTC buses connect the city with other several cities of Andhra Pradesh. There are super deluxe buses running regularly from Bangalore and many other cities.
By Rail
There is a railway station at Puttaparthi known as Sri Satya Sai Prasanthi Nilayam since 23rd November 2000 and it is the date of 75th birth anniversary of Baba. It is at a distance of 8 km from the ashram. The nearest and closest railhead is Dharmavaram at 45 kms distance.
By Air
The city has a domestic airport at 4 km distance from the Ashram of Satya Sai known as Sri Satya Airport. The airport of Puttaparthi is connected to many cities by the bi-weekly flights. The nearest international airport is located at a distance of 250 km in Bangalore.
