Bihar School Examination Board
In order to hold examinations at the conclusion of the Secondary School level and to formulate necessary courseware and also to carry out other activities prescribed within the purview of the Board’s Rules and regulations, the Bihar School Examination Board was established.
The Board’s Annual Secondary School Examination comes during February/March of each year and the supplementary School examination comes during August/September and the course contents are published by the State Government.
Also, the departmental examinations like Diploma in Physical Education, Certificate in PhysicalEducation and teachers Training Examination in line with the prescribed Government guidelines, are also conducted by the Board which may not be an annual phenomena.

Thus, twice in a year ie., Secondary School Examinations are conducted by the Bihar School Examination Board, during February/March, one for Annual Examination and another for the Supplementary examinations . Statistics reveals that approximately 5, 48,000 took the Secondary School Examination in the year 2005.
Supplementary Examination
Normally supplementary Examination is taken up during July/August which contains to types of students viz 'A' & 'C' wherein 'A' refers to All subjects and ‘C’ refers to the failed candidates taking up examination on the papers in which they have failed.

Facilities
Better Result and Scrutiny . This is a facility through which the Bihar School Examination Board permits a candidate to improve upon his original marks secured, in case he/she is not satisfied with the results awarded by the Board . The process is like this-
- Submit an application along with a Bank draft for Rs. 200 which has to be routed through the concerned Headmaster within a 2 years of the candidate’s first appearance for such examination.
- Also the candidate can request for inspection of such paper in which he/she has felt to have secured less marks with the relevant bank draft for such amount, through their Headmaster.
- The relevant charges for such scrutiny are- Rs. 100 per paper and Rs. 600 for all papers. Scrutiny refers to re totaling of marks only and if any answer is not evaluated, marks will be included in the old total after due evaluation . Communication related to the modifications in such issues will be sent directly to the school by way of Registered Post.
