Kanchenjunga stadium is located in siliguri, india and is a multipurpose stadium in which mainly for football and cricket is played. The stadium was built in 1969 and named as kanchenjunga kriyangon. It has a capacity to accommodate 45000.reputed sports event like ranji trophy and federation cup was organized here time to time. Nehru gold cup were also organized here and also youth hostel complex is also located here. Recently it is equipped with floodlights also by state government and thus day night matches can be conducted here.

History

Kanchenjunga stadium is only stadium of city established in year 1969. It was earlier known as ‘tilak maidan’. The construction was completed in year 1988.after this reputed tournament of nehru gold cup was arranged here.The ranji trophy match between bengal cricket team and punjab cricket team was first match organized on this ground. The first federation cup in country was played between mohun bagan ac and churchill brother fc in 2012.

The ranji trophy match between bengal cricket team and punjab cricket team was first match organized on this ground in year 2010. It has hosted 11 ranji trophy matches.

Federation cup was played on this ground in india and the first match was played between mohun bagan ac and churchill brother fc in 2012.participating teams were air india fc, sporting club de goa, oil and natural gas commission fc etc. The 10 matches were played as day- night matches.

Other then these two major events two matches of 3rd season of celebrity cricket league are to be played on this ground in 2013. Matches will be between telugu warriors vs bengal tigers and veer marathi vs karnataka bulldozers.

How to Reach

New jalpaiguri railway station is the nearest railway station to kanchenjunga stadium which is at distance of 4.5 km through siliguri deshbandhu chitranjan das flyover. Airview bus stand is about 2km from stadium on burdawan road. One can get local transport like taxi or cab to reach stadium. Bagdogra airport is on nh31 and nearest airport which can reach in 16 minutes from stadium.
