Maharashtra Wankhede Stadium
The full name of the stadium is Shesrao Krushnarao Wankhede Satdium. It is among the prominent cricket stadiums of not only of India but of other countries too. It hosted most of the matches and people came here to watch them too. It is having a seating capacity of 45000 people and having two ends, Garware End and Tata End. It was constructed in just six months and it was opened for the final test among India and West Indies in the year of 1975. Its curator is Sudhir Naik who is paying attention on the quality of the ground at all times. The stadium took over the Brauborne Stadium and various nail biting cricket matches help on this ground. This ground also serves as the important ground for all matches for Mumbai Team.
Matches of Indian Premier League also held on this ground where the home team of the tournament, Mumbai Indians played and won various games. The epic story about the ground is that on the same ground, Ravi Shastri hit 6 sixes of the 6 balls of same over. Another interesting triumph is of Indian team beating Sri Lanka in the final of the World Cup 2011.
History
After the construction completed in the year of 1974, the stadium provided numerous games that people of Mumbai and coming from other parts enjoyed a lot. The stadium was constructed after a dispute.
Mumbai is known as the Cricket Capital of India. Most of the matches held in this city pre and post independence period. There are three main grounds in the city on which the test matches were played till now. The first one is Bombay Gymkhana Ground. On this ground, a test among India and England was hosted in the year 1933-34. After this the second ground is Cricket club of India constructed Brabourne Stadium. This was built after the Second World War. This stadium hosted around 17 test matches for a long period. Since there was a dispute among the Cricket Club of India and the Bombay Cricket Association, Wankhede Stadium was built after this from BCA. It is having seating capacity of 45000 people and it is located very nearer to the Brabourne Stadium. They named the stadium after their Association’s President, Barrister Sheshrao Wankhede.
The stadium witnessed some of the extraordinary cricket matches in itself. The first match between West Indies and India was also a terrific match not because of India lost that test but because of the reason that a fan that went on the ground to greet Clive Lloyd was treated badly by the Police. After this, some major innings from the major players from the world of cricket were exhibit on this ground. Apart from the international matches, the ground also hosted some national matches and tournaments like Ranji trophy and others. Many records were established by the cricketers on this ground and they love to play on this ground a lot. The local boy, Sachin Tendulkar also played many matches and made lots of runs on this ground. The most epic battle was in the year 2011 when India crushed Sri Lanka is the World Cup Cricket Final to become the World Champions.

Ian Botham created a century on this stadium and also grabbed 13 wickets in one test match. Ravi Shastri hit 6 sixes in an over. The highest total of a team is of West Indies in the year 1975 which made 604/6. there were many World Cup matches also played on this ground and people came from all side to greet their favorite cricketers. Many matches played on this ground and many a times the ground was renovated because of cracks and running of players damages the floor of the ground because of which it creates lots of trouble.

If a player hits a ball harder, the ground gets some problems or if hr went for a long shot, he will damage the other infrastructure of the stadiums. For all these problems, the stadium needs to get improvements like renovation. From the first test match to the last World Cup final played on this ground. Renovation took place at all times and most of the times; the stadium was changed for all the formats of the games. The Mumbai Cricket Association took the charge for the renovation of the stadium in the year 2011, Feb so that they can make the stadium a place where world class events can take place. They maintained their good charm and designed the stadium in a new and better way. After that many matches held that provide good remarks to MCA. There are 20 elevators installed in the stadium in the north and south end for the convenience of crowd.
