Holkar Cricket stadium is located in Indore city of Madhya Pradesh. It was renamed as Holkar Stadium in 2010, earlier it was known by the name of Maharani Usharaje Trust Cricket ground. Holkars, the Maratha Kings, ruled here in Indore, thus the stadium is named after them. The stadium is well suited for day and night matches as it is well equipped with flood lights and has a capacity to accommodate 30000 spectators. The first ODI was played in year 2006 between India and England, India won the match. All home Matches of Ranji Trophy is also played on this ground. The IPL debut match was played here in year 2011 and Kochi Tuskers Kerala was team played two of their home games on this ground.
History
Holkars in Indore initiated the cricket culture in Indore and made the game reach new horizons. The Holkar dynasty has given land to construct this stadium. Holkars formed their own cricket team and appeared in Ranji trophy matches. They won the title 4 times out of 10 and 3 of it is on Holkar Cricket stadium in 40’s and 50’s. The city witnessed the great cricketers like Col. C.K. Nayudu and Captain Mushtaq Ali’s playing on this ground in Ranji. The stands and pavilions in ground are named after great Cricketers of Indore.

Nearest airport is Devi Ahilyabai Holkar airport which is around 11 Kms away from stadium.
Also local transport like city buses, taxi and cab facilities are available to reach stadium. Railway station and bus stand is 2 Km away from stadium. Some nearest landmarks are Khel Prashal, Zanjeer wala square and Yeshwant club.
Ground
Ground land was given by Maratha Dynasty for construction of stadium. In 2011 committee named the Pavilion, Dressing Rooms, and Galleries around the stadium on name of famous cricketers who left the footprints of success on this ground. Dressing room is named on name of Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi and Rahul Dravid who is born in Indore. Stadium gates named after Narendra Hirwani, Rajesh Chauhan and Amey Khurasia who represented country in international cricket. Pavilion is named after Col. C. K. Naidu and Mushtaq Ali. A section of stand is dedicated to Cricketers of Holkar dynasty and named after them. Some of them are M M Jagdale, Chandu Sarwate, C.S. Naidu etc.Other then this there are stands named on name of Sachin Tendulkar, Sunil Gavaskar, Anil Kumble and Vijay Hazare.
